Rancho San Miguel Offering 18 Yearlings At August 25 Washington Sale

Auburn, Washington—The 2026 Washington Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners Association Summer Yearling & Mixed Sale will feature 18 racing prospects under the Rancho San Miguel banner during its single session on Tuesday, August 25.

Among the horses offered for consideration by Pacific Northwest buyers this year are 13 yearlings by current Rancho San Miguel stallions Bolden, Editorial, Eight Rings and Mo Forza.

Also featured in the California-based consignment are youngsters sired by Clubhouse Ride, Danzing Candy, Early Voting and Smiling Tiger.

The 2026 edition of the annual Washington auction will be conducted at the Morris J. Alhadeff Sales Pavilion on the grounds of Emerald Downs, starting at 1 p.m.

All of the horses in Rancho San Miguel’s 2026 Washington consignment are currently available for pre-sale inspection by potential buyers. Photos, walking videos and catalog pages are provided online.

Mo Forza Nets Impressive Maiden Special Weight Winners At Del Mar

Del Mar, California—Rancho San Miguel’s Mo Forza tightened his grip on his status as California’s Leading Second-Crop Sire over the weekend with a pair of winners in rich maiden special weight races at Del Mar: a first-out starter and his first six figure-earner.

On August 15, his 3-year-old gelding Mo Diamantes made a winning debut over nine rivals with an inside trip under jockey Kazushi Kimura in a $82,500 five-furlong sprint over Del Mar’s turf course, which he mastered in :57.93 by a half-length victory margin at the wire.

The youngster earned $48,000 in his initial run for Slugo Racing, an ownership group which acquired him for $70,000 at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearlings Sale and subsequently placed him in the barn of trainer Mike Puype. He is the fifth winner from six starters out of the multiple winner Joyce and Me, by Discreet Cat, and was bred in California by Bar C Racing Stables.

Less than 24 hours after the winning performance by Mo Diamantes, another talented runner from Mo Forza’s 2023 crop lived up to his 2-5 billing and made history as his sire’s first offspring to pass the $100,000 benchmark in earnings with a visually impressive victory at 1 1/16 miles on the same Del Mar grass.

Second three times from his four prior starts at the high-dollar maiden special weight level on the East Coast, including two near-miss efforts this summer at Saratoga Race Course, Kentucky-bred Bull Shoals thrived with the move west for trainer Jena Antonucci, who paired the colt with jockey Umberto Rispoli for his California debut. The result was a well-moderated effort that yielded a facile, 3 1/4-length score in an untested 1:42.73, as well as the accompanying $48,000 winner’s portion of the $80,500 test.

Bull Shoals is the first foal out of the Liam’s Map mare Rapid Water, and has banked $108,521 to date for owner / co-breeder Bushman Thoroughbreds.

Boasting 17 race winners to his credit, Grade 1 winner Mo Forza leads all California-based second-crop sires with overall progeny earnings of more than $817,000. The 10-year-old son of Uncle Mo stood for a $5,000 fee in 2026.

Millionaire Mo Forza Sires First-Crop Santa Anita Exacta

Arcadia, California—With their speed and precocity on full display, a pair of first-time starters from the inaugural foal crop of the Grade 1-winning Rancho San Miguel stallion Mo Forza outgamed more experienced rivals to complete the exacta in a $72,500 maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds on the Santa Anita Park turf course on April 4.

California-breds Eugene Sledge and Gaines controlled the pace in a two-horse battle for the lead throughout the 6 1/2-furlong contest, with jockey Antonio Fresu aboard 5-1 Eugene Sledge ultimately emerging as the winner by a neck in a final time of 1:15.81. Gaines held on for second to complete the $34.10 exacta with Florent Geroux in the irons, a half-length ahead of the third-place finisher in the field of 10.

The winner was saddled by trainer Phil D’Amato, and earned $42,000 in his successful debut for owner Strand Beach LLC. Bred by Nick Alexander out of his homebred $709,540-earner S Y Sky, a graded stakes-winning daughter of Grazen, the chestnut gelding was sold for $24,000 through the 2024 Fasig-Tipton December Digital Selected Sale.

Runner-up Gaines, out of the Artie Schiller mare Dial a Date, pocketed $14,000 for his game effort on behalf of breeder / owner Harris Farms, which campaigns the colt with trainer Carla Gaines.

Sire Mo Forza competed at the top levels on turf from 2019 through 2021, earning more than $1 million as a seven-time graded stakes winner in Southern California. Now 10, the versatile Uncle Mo stallion has sent out seven winners from the distances of 4 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/16 miles on dirt, turf and all-weather surfaces, and ranks as the state’s leading second-crop sire with overall progeny earnings of $351,425 to date.

His 2026 fee at Rancho San Miguel is $5,000.

Three Rancho San Miguel Stallions Among California’s Early 2026 Leaders

San Miguel, California—Three stallions anchoring the current roster at California’s Rancho San Miguel are among the state’s Top 11 active sires ranked by 2026 progeny earnings six weeks into the new racing year.

Leading the trio ― and the entire state ― at #1 is Collected, a 13-year-old son of City Zip who is standing his inaugural season in California after previously holding court at Airdrie Stud in Kentucky. The 2017 Pacific Classic (G1) victor has sent out 12 Northern Hemisphere winners through February 13, and has a state-best bankroll of $553,620 accrued by his runners this year. His top 2026 earner, at $108,533, is the 3-year-old colt Aljamih, a winner in Saudi Arabia out of the mare Moonshine Magic, a daughter of the former California-based stallion Bluegrass Cat.

From four crops to race, Collected boasts overall progeny earnings of more than $19 million, buoyed by 22 stakes winners, including seven in graded company.

Collected’s 2026 fee is $7,500.

Ranking fifth among all active California stallions by 2026 progeny earnings is the farm’s venerable resident Sir Prancealot (Ire), whose sons and daughters have banked a cumulative $301,070 thus far this year.

The top earner to date for the 16-year-old son of Tamayuz (GB), at $56,000, is recent Santa Anita Park winner Sir Percival, a 4-year-old gelding out of the Paddy O’Prado mare Christmas Carol.

Two additional Sir Prancealot runners scored black-type placings on the track’s California Cup program last month to kick off the stallion’s stakes tally for 2026: $175,000 California Chrome Cal Cup Derby runner-up Sammy Davis and $125,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Sprint Stakes third-place finisher Prancingthruparis. Both horses are prior stakes winners.

A sire of 39 international stakes horses overall, Sir Prancealot commands a $6,000 fee this year.

Two runners from the first foal crop of Grade 1 winner Mo Forza have already reached the winner’s circle in 2026, helping to position their 10-year-old sire among California’s 11 top-ranked active stallions for the new year with his cumulative progeny earnings of $107,945. These 3-year-old maiden winners are the Santa Anita-based filly Famous Forza and the colt Forza Azzurri, whose three-length victory on January 22 was recorded at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

Millionaire Mo Forza, by Uncle Mo, currently stands for a fee of $5,000.

Rancho San Miguel To Offer Two Dozen California-Bred Racing Prospects At January 20 Mixed Sale

Pomona, California—Buyers looking to participate in the rich, restricted racing program for California-bred runners will have two dozen prospects to evaluate in Rancho San Miguel’s quality consignment at the 2026 Winter Mixed Sale, which will be conducted at Fairplex in Pomona on Tuesday, January 20. Hosted by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, the single session will start at noon.

The Rancho San Miguel entrants will be available for on-site inspection in Barn 4, with pre-sale viewing beginning on Saturday, January 17.

The farm’s all-California consignment comprises nine yearlings and 15 newly turned 2-year-olds.

Anchoring the yearling portion are colts and fillies from the first crop of Rancho San Miguel’s undefeated stallion Bolden, as well as youngsters by current and former roster members Editorial, Mo Forza and Danzing Candy.

Among the 2-year-old offerings are racing prospects by the Rancho San Miguel-based sires Editorial, Mo Forza and Sir Prancealot (Ire), as well as the stallions Bodexpress, Dads Caps, Halladay, Om, Raging Bull (Fr) and Tom’s Tribute. Several of these juveniles are already broke, and galloping under tack.

Information and promotional material on Rancho San Miguel’s farm services, current stallions and consignment horses will be available near the walking ring on sale day.

Optimism, Camaraderie Mark Rancho San Miguel’s 2025 Open House & Stallion Show

San Miguel, California—Positive vibes and perfect California winter weather greeted more than 70 attendees during Rancho San Miguel’s 2025 Open House & Stallion Show on December 6.

The four-hour event marked the San Luis Obispo County farm’s third time to open its doors to Thoroughbred breeders, owners, trainers and enthusiasts over the past three years.

This year’s guests were treated to warm hospitality, in addition to unseasonably warm temperatures. The farm’s iconic stallion barn was decorated for the holidays, with festive wreaths on the stall doors and horse-themed gifts handed out to lucky raffle winners. Complimentary food and networking opportunities added to the merriment, along with an informative presentation from farm feed provider Purina Mills. Approximately two dozen horses bound for Rancho San Miguel’s consignment to the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s 2026 Winter Mixed Sale on January 20 also were available for early viewing.

Highlighting the activities was the popular stallion parade, which was emceed by farm owner Tom Clark. Each member of the farm’s 13-strong stallion roster was paraded for guests, accompanied by narration describing their individual achievements. This year’s line-up featured returning stallions Bolden, Brickyard Ride, Cyclotron, Editorial, Mo Forza, Northern Causeway, Richard’s Kid, Sir Prancealot (Ire) and The Street Fighter, as well as newcomers Collected, Eight Rings, Niagara Falls and Uptown Rythem.

The event received optimistic feedback across the board from attendees.

“My husband and I have attended Rancho San Miguel’s Open House since the very first one two years ago, and it keeps on getting better each and every time with new additions to their stallion roster, such as Collected,” said California-based breeder Daniela Ochoa. “He is a stunning individual, and we are looking forward to breeding two of our mares to him next breeding season.”

California’s New Top Sire Collected To Be Introduced At Rancho San Miguel Open House & Stallion Show On December 6

San Miguel, California—The West Coast introduction of Grade 1 winner and nationally ranked fourth-crop sire Collected will highlight Rancho San Miguel’s 2025 Open House & Stallion Show on Saturday, December 6, a free event which will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All regional Thoroughbred breeders, owners, trainers and enthusiasts are invited to attend.

Collected recently arrived at the San Luis Obispo County farm from Airdrie Stud in Kentucky, which is partnering with Rancho San Miguel and prominent California breeder / owner Marsha Naify to stand the 12-year-old son of City Zip for a $7,500 fee in 2026.

From his first four crops to race, the 2017 Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) winner and $2,975,500-earner has sired 20 stakes winners, including seven graded stakes winners, with cumulative progeny earnings of more than $18 million. He enters the California stallion ranks as the state’s new and dominant leading sire, with 2025 progeny earnings of $6.4 million to date.

Making his Rancho San Miguel debut alongside Collected at the upcoming showcase is Grade 1 winner Eight Rings, whose highly regarded first foals will be 2-year-olds in 2026.

Promising young stallions Bolden, Brickyard Ride and The Street Fighter and veteran sires Cyclotron, Editorial, Mo Forza, Niagara Falls, Northern Causeway, Sir Prancealot (Ire) and Uptown Rythem also will be paraded, accompanied by narrations detailing their achievements.

Participants will be treated to a catered lunch, as well as opportunities for giveaways, door prizes and stallion season raffles. The farm also will offer several horses of mixed age for inspection and sale, including broodmares, weanlings and yearlings.

Mo Holland Drive Coasts To Victory As First Winner For California’s Grade 1-Winning Millionaire Mo Forza

Arcadia, California—Two-year-old Mo Holland Drive proved much the best in a $63,000 maiden special weight race at Santa Anita Park on September 28 to become the first winner for the young stallion Mo Forza, a Grade 1-winning son of Uncle Mo who stands at Rancho San Miguel in San Miguel, California.

Ridden by Juan Hernandez for trainer Peter Miller, the California-bred colt took the lead at the half-mile mark of the six-furlong turf test and steadily improved his advantage to two lengths at the wire, stopping the clock in a snappy 1:08.49 while outperforming 10 rivals as the 5-2 wagering favorite.

Mo Holland Drive is the first foal out of the multiple winner Awesome Drive, by Summer Front. He was bred by River Oak Farm LLC, and has earned $58,680 to date for the ownership group of Altamira Racing Stable, California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing LLC, Tom Kagele and Nathan McCauley.

He hails from the inaugural foal crop of 9-year-old Mo Forza, an elite runner whose seven graded stakes victories in Southern California included the 2019 Hollywood Derby (G1).

Mo Forza entered stud at Rancho San Miguel in 2022 as one of the most successful sons of the late leading sire Uncle Mo with a 15-race bankroll of $1,034,460. He has subsequently been embraced by regional breeders as California’s top-ranked stallion by number of mares bred in 2023 (102) and 2024 (90).

Mo Forza’s 2025 fee at Rancho San Miguel was $7,500.

Quality Permeates Rancho San Miguel’s 32-Strong Consignment To Southern California Yearling Sale On September 23

Pomona, California—A quality draft of 32 racing prospects will be offered under the Rancho San Miguel banner during the 2025 Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearlings Sale in Pomona on Tuesday, September 23, including one youngster with a recent and immediate Grade 1 family update. The auction’s single session starts at 11 a.m. Pacific Time.

All Rancho San Miguel entrants will be available for on-site inspection in Barn 7 at the Fairplex sales complex starting on Saturday morning, September 20.

The vast majority of yearlings in this consignment — 30 horses — are California-breds who are eligible to compete in the state’s restricted racing program. The remaining two yearlings were bred in Kentucky and Washington, respectively.

Hip #139 — a Smiling Tiger half-brother to the multiple graded stakes-placed stakes winner Streak of Luck — received a major catalog boost two weeks ago when his sibling’s undefeated 2-year-old colt Ted Noffey won Saratoga’s $300,000 Hopeful Stakes (G1) by 8 1/2 lengths to stamp himself as one of the early favorites for the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Del Mar.

Also among Rancho San Miguel’s assembly are yearlings by the prominent California farm’s resident stallions Danzing Candy, Editorial, Mo Forza and Sir Prancealot (Ire), as well as the state’s leading sire of 2025, Grazen. In addition, the group includes several representatives from the first California-sired foal crop of Grade 1 winner Jack Milton and the last crop of the late leading California sire Mr. Big.

Youngsters by notable out-of-state stallions Army Mule and Yoshida (Jpn) are also available in the collection.
