Collected Colt Mansetti Named Canada’s Horse Of The Year
Ontario, Canada—The Rancho San Miguel stallion Collected, California’s current leading sire, added to his accolades on April 23, when his high-performing colt Mansetti was named 2025 Canadian Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Male during a gala Sovereign Awards ceremony hosted in Ontario by The Jockey Club of Canada.
Mansetti tallied three wins and two seconds from his eight starts last year, all in stakes company. Highlighting his ambitious 2025 campaign was his 2 1/2-length victory in the $1 million King’s Plate Stakes at Woodbine on August 16 — a historic race conducted at 1 1/4 miles for Canadian-bred sophomores.
The versatile colt also captured the track’s 1 1/16-mile Marine Stakes (G3) and six-furlong Woodstock Stakes in addition to his runner-up efforts in Woodbine’s 1 1/8-mile Ontario Derby (G3) and the 1 3/16-mile Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie.
Trained by Kevin Attard for owners Al and Bill Ulwelling, Mansetti banked US$671,981 during his championship season. He has earned US$776,003 from 11 starts overall as he gears up for his 2026 campaign.
He was bred in Ontario by Jungle Racing, and is the fifth winner from five starters out of the Sky Mesa mare Gidget Girl.
Mansetti is one of 24 stakes winners from the first four foal crops by 2017 Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) winner Collected, who currently reigns as California’s leading sire of 2026 by graded stakes winners, black-type performers, individual race winners and year-to-date progeny earnings, with more than $1.7 million accrued by his runners thus far. The 13-year-old son of City Zip stands for $7,500, with a live foal guarantee.
