Sir Prancealot’s Alotaluck wins Mine That Bird Derby in New Mexico

San Miguel, California—Elite international sire Sir Prancealot (Ire) attained his second black-type winner from his first California-conceived foal crop on April 7, when his 3-year-old son Alotaluck justified his role as the overwhelming 1-20 wagering favorite with a 2 1/2-length runaway victory in Sunland Park’s $125,000 Mine That Bird Derby.

The Eleanor Martin homebred entered the race off his runner-up effort behind subsequent Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Stronghold in the New Mexico track’s $400,000 Sunland Park Derby (G3) on February 18. Prior to that performance, the California-bred gelding ran second in Sunland’s $100,000 Riley Allison Derby in his sophomore and stakes debut.

Produced by the multiple winner Colinda Dawn, by Lucks Mine, Alotaluck has earned $207,360 to date while never finishing worse than second in his four career starts.

A former shuttle stallion, Group 2 winner Sir Prancealot began his U.S. residency at California’s Rancho San Miguel in 2020. Also the sire of 2023 Del Mar juvenile stakes winner Lord Prancealot from that resulting 2021 foal crop, he currently commands a fee of $8,500 LFG.
